Old Age Marriage

The one of the main concerns is when someone gets married at old age, how it impacts the newborn kids’ health, e.g., down syndrome and other diseases which could happen because of the old age. The first impact of old marriage is the increased risk of Down Syndrome in the Newborn Baby. The odds of Down Syndrome are around 1 in 100, but at the old age of marriage, the chances increase to 1 in 10.

The reason behind this is the decrease in the number of eggs in the woman’s body. As the age of the woman increases, the amount of eggs in her body also decreases. And this leads to a decreased fertility rate in women. Thus, the statistical probability of Down Syndrome increases when the woman is over 40 years old.

There are three major causes of Down Syndrome in the Newborn Babies. They are the reduced fertility rate due to old age, pregnancy complications and the increased rate of genetic mutations. The first cause of Down Syndrome is the reduced fertility rate in old age.

The second cause of Down Syndrome is pregnancy complications. If a woman’s body is not healthy or has some complications during the pregnancy, there is a high chance of Down Syndrome. The third cause of Down Syndrome is the increased rate of genetic mutations. As the woman’s body ages, genetic mutations are highly likely.

We can prevent the risk factor by screening and blood testing before marriage. The blood test will help you find any blood diseases or risk factors like down syndrome and other blood diseases. As blood test is non-invasive and painless, it is very easy to do a blood test before marriage.

Now you can do genetic testing to find out if you are at risk for any of these conditions or if there is a possibility that you could pass that risk on to your children. Once you know what your risks are, you can take steps to lower them and live a healthier life. By doing this lab test before getting married, one can find out their probable risks and take necessary precautions.
